Have any of you created a returning volunteer application to post online?  We have a percentage of our volunteers who are rather fluid and are here then are gone for a period of time and then come back. 

I am thinking of creating a section of our website for "returning volunteers" where they can make an application to update their file (we are not VICNET users).  Of course this would require merging files to get one record, but I think I have that figured out now.

Just want those who return to feel special and not like they have to go through the process all over again.

Any one have experience with this?

At this point, I archive anyone who has done service with us, so if they want to return, I simply restore their original record and ask for updates to contact info and their pre-requisites.

If they had applied, but never completed service, I would probably ask them to start the process over again because it's likely I wouldn't have retained any paperwork on them.
