Society for Healthcare
I have received a request from senior leadership asking for volunteers to assist our staff on patient floors by running errands, answering phones, etc. Do any of you have volunteers currently in this role during COVID? If so, do you have a service description or list of responsibilities you could share?
Our nursing unit volunteers have returned and stocking and assisting is part of their responsibilities. However, we have not been asked to encourage volunteers in other positions to assist on the floors.
Know this isn't helpful! Good luck! Jenelen
We have returned volunteers to our nursing units. I will share a copy of the position description.
Good morning Cindy,
Here's a copy of our modified nursing unit volunteer position description.
We have volunteers, who are also Mended Hearts volunteers, helping with the Cardiac Observation Unit. They make packets for patients, answer the phones, etc. No patient contact.
I also have volunteers in CCU at the information desk there. They talk with families and answer phones.
Employee Health also has volunteers answering the phones and setting appointments. They have some contact with the employees.
I was told I had to send all my volunteers home who were on patient floors. The only volunteers currently allowed on patient floors are pet therapy volunteers doing staff-only visits in conference rooms.
