Does your hospital have a barber or beautician that cuts and styles hair for patients? If so, could you please tell me how this works? We have tried to find someone to help with this, but we have been unsuccesful. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

We have struggled with this for years.  Our attorney says we need to use a lisenced cosmatologist, but I haven't found one who wants to "volunteer" their time.  I will be interested to hear how others have addressed the problem.

We had a sylist volunteer years and years ago, but she eventually wanted to be paid for services.  We also have never been able to find someone since who would volunteer.

We have a beautician on call who gets paid by the patient at a rate determined by our auxiliary.  They do not pay her, but provide the supplies on the cart that she uses.  They also give her a tip at Christmas time.  The calls requesting her services comes through me.

How many requests to you get a month?  Is this a "contract" between the beautician and the Auxiliary?  How does the patient pay for the service?  Do you mind sharing what the rates are?

I do have a hair stylist.  She works three days a week.  We give her the space and she supplies the product.  We get a percentage of her sales.  We have had this service for twenty years.  People call and request a time.  Most of the clients are staff and skilled nursing patients.  We advertise the service in the elevators under monthly schedule of events.
