Do other hospitals Occupational/Employee Health offices see volunteers for accidents/incidents which happen to volunteers during the course of performing their duties? I.e. While cleaning, a volunteer accidentally splashes chemical fluid in their eye. Is this handled by your facility, or is the volunteer expected to see their private provider.

    Thanks in advance!

Our hospital sees them immediately, then any followup is with their private physician.  The hospital covers any hospital cost not covered by the volunteer's insurance

Occupational/Employee Health Nurse is the 1st point of contact for treatment.  Dependent upon the injury, ED, Doctor's Care or the volunteer may use their own private physician.  The hospital covers any outstanding balance following insurance billing for the injury.

Our Team Member health treats/sees them if the condition is non emergent and doesn't require them to go to the ED. They are usually referred to follow up with their PCP but we apply first aid if needed. Essentially the same process that team members would go through if they were injured/ill.

Our Employee Health Nurse Practitioner is the first contact to make a determination/recommendation if they need to be sent elsewhere such as the ED or their personal physician.
