Hope everyone is having a great summer!

How many of your organizations are using Volunteers to transport, walk, work with Fall Risk Patients?  Is anyone doing this?  Our Risk Management Department has been against the practice but we have a new Director of Therapeutic Services who is willing to provide additional training to our volunteers so they could possible work with this large patient group.

Any feedback welcome as I am in the data collection stage of this process.

    Hi Kelly!

All of our volunteers are trained and sign off on the training to transport a patient in a wheelchair. They may assist a team member with bed transportation but not perform the task alone.

We utilize our patient ambassador rounding team to double check fall precaution measures on patients who are high fall risk.
