Our hospital provides or participates in many camps for children with certain diagnosis each summer.  Some are managed by other intities and simply invite our patients.  Some are held on campus and managed by staff.  Others are held off campus and still managed by staff.  Currently all of these camps recruit their own volunteers for the duration of the camps.  There is no application or screening.  I was asked what I thought.  Of course I stated that if these volunteers had the opportunity to be alone with a child during the camp then they should be screened (drug screen and background check).  I'd appreciate knowing what any of you are doing or any thoughts you might have.  Thanks so much.

Our premier med camp host different camps throughout the summer for different diagnosis.  The camp recruits, trains, and orients volunteers.  They are very professional in their use of volunteers.
