I've been contacted by John from Gold Coast to consider sponsoring a gold buying event.  Employees bring in their unwanted gold and redeem it for cash.  Have any of you done this type of event?  Please share any positives/negatives.

    Thanks,

    Jan

I too am interested in learning about using a Gold Company and maybe combining it with a buy back of gold jewelry.  Would this also have payroll decuction and how would that work.

The information that I received states that payroll deduction is not needed (since the customers are selling, not buying, that makes sense).  Also, volunteer help is not needed and they only need one table, not a large set-up space.  Commission is $1.00 for each gram of karat gold purchased from the employees.

Did you ever have it?  I was discouraged by our Administrator - she was uncomfortable with the idea.

Just before Christmas our auxiliary sponsored a used gold sale using a local company.  Our employees were very pleased and
felt they were reimbursed fairly - and more than they thought!
Of course the key is to publicize and conduct it at least 2 days.  Individuals were given a check on the spot from the vendor and the auxiliary was paid the end of the second day.

John of Gold Coast recently did a 'gold buyback' event here at Shands UF, Gainesville. First day was slow, second day better.

Staff loved it, we're doing it again next week, and we made $1000 for the department.

We have just finished an event with Get Cash Gold.  They were here 3 days and only needed a good space. We provided no volunteer workers, no overnight lock up and only put out flyers ahead of time.  They paid out several thousand dollars but we have to wait 30 days (to be sure none of the merchandise brought in was stolen) to get our commission.  So far, very easy.  I'll let you know soon just how profitable.
