utilizing volunteers in community health/disparities initiatives?

    Good afternoon,

I'm working on 2021 goals, and am brainstorming about ways to include the volunteer program in some of our system's goals for reducing health disparities, improving community health outcomes, and providing culturally and linguistically appropriate care.

Has anyone been able to encorporate the volunteer program into these types of metrics?

    thanks,

Jill,  the volunteer contribution for the improved community health outcome is assisted by providing support volunteer staff for the HEALTHREACH van that goes out into the community.  The volunteer is on the van with them at 5:30 am doing the intake of demographics before patient moves onto clinical staff.  Volunteers also contribute to our SMARTSNACKS program feeding under nourished children through our school system.  Volunteers and community partner organizations pack nearly 750 bags per week which are distributed through the schools.  It is needed now more than ever with the  pandemic.
