I am opening a new gift shop in May.  I need a system that interfaces with Quick Charge.  I want something that is easy to use.  Tech support is a must.  Help me please.

    Pat,

Many of the integrated POS systems will replace Quick Charge as well. So you will have the integrated credit card wedge as part of your overall system. Give us a call and we can send you some links to systems we sell. Jeff

    Pat:

We have the Arba Pro system at our 2 Shops.  We just merged with another hospital system that used "quick charge" and were able to easily integrate it into our ArbaPro Pos system.  No problems

    Hi Lisa,

I'm looking into a new POS system as well.  We would like to offer payroll deduction via ID badge swipe/scanning.  We have a program now, but it's antiquated and requires a lot of manually processing.  We currently use CounterPoint software version 7 and are faced with the decision of whether to upgrade to the SQL version.  It's pretty expensive, plus we would need to purchase the payroll deduction piece separately, also very expensive.  I would love to hear more about ARBAPro.  I looked at their website and it sounds good.  So far, that's the only one I've found that advertises itself specifically for hospital gift shops.

    Thanks,

    Jan Verbeck

Question,  what are you using in the Gift Shop for point of sale. Any experiences or knowledge about ARBA or TAM as a system?

I am in the process of going with MM Hayes. I tell you finding a POS that will work the way we needed it to was a pain! We allow employee's to strech out their balances depending on what they owe and that takes a special program to take care of that piece.

    So good luck!

We use Arbrba Pro in both of our Gift Shops and are very pleased with the system and the service.

It is time for us to replace our older ARBAPRO system and I'd like to know what new options are out there.  Please let me know"

    What system do you have?

    How is the customer support?

Did it have to be customized to be used easily in your operation?

How are your volunteers doing with the system?

How adaptable is it? (We have one ARBA system in the shop, another in the Cafeteria.  It'd be nice to have an option that could handle both on one system)

Is your credit card reader part of the register or separate?

Are the reports useful?  'Easily customizeable?

What quirks are there that you wish you'd been able to avoid or had known about beforehand?

Hi Leslie, Did you select a different POS system or did you stick with ARBA.  I regret that you did not get responses from other SHVL members because I'm in the same situation and need to make a quick decision.  I am not going to talk bad about ARBA because they have been a supporter of SHVL for many, many years, however, that's about the only good thing I can say about them at this point.  Please let me know what system you selected and the reasons you made your choice.  I appreciate any information you can give me to speed up my selection process! -- Gay Davis, Northport Medical Center
