One more comment---we do have volunteers who go into certain isolation units. They go through a training session designed by infection control and done by the unit nursing educator. This year is a good example, we wouldn't have any volunteers to help the staff in the pulmonary unit because the flu has everyone on isolation. The unit has trained its volunteers.
Of course nothing goes in the room that can't be cleaned or stays. However with our infotainment system, it is usually to just be a "buddy" and play a game on Wii or something similar.
