Auxiliary Consolidation

    Good afternoon, SHVL friends -

My hospital system has 3 hospitals and each of those hospitals has an established Auxiliary.  Three Auxiliaries is a lot to keep wrangled in!  Now that we have been returning from our COVID hiatus, we are finding that 3 Auxiliaries are struggling.

I have scheduled a conversation in late September for the leadership boards of all three groups to come together and brainstorm for ideas to succeed in our new normal.  One of the ideas that I expect to come up consolidating the 3 Auxiliaries into one, which would be a system-wide Auxiliary.  (I am in favor of this idea.)

My question is, does anyone in SHVL-land have experience with this type of consolidation/merger?  Any advice or pitfalls to watch out for?

    Thanks in advance!
    Rebecca

I've not had experience with this exactly, but first thought that came to my mind was to be sure there is representation from each hospital on the system-wide board. We have two hospitals with two separate auxiliaries and I've just been given supervisory responsibility for the volunteer program at the smaller hospital that became a part of our system a few years back. I'm trying to bring consistency and system-ness to the programs so I realize it's going to be important to have reps from both on committees, etc when changes are going to affect the overall program.
