    Hello,

We have a couple of very small rural health hospitals in our system, and are encountering challenges with developing roles that keep the volunteers engaged and busy for a 4 hour shift. Is anyone willing to share some roles you've have success with?

I am from a rural critical access hospital. Our gift shop and outpatient surgery volunteers do 4 hour shifts, generally our shifts are 3 hours.  We have volunteers at 2 entrances, dining room cashier (1.5 hrs), emergency department (college pre-med students), patient ambassadors (varies with number of patients), and specialty clinics.  Please let me know if you would like more information on any of these.

We have a tea cart that is funded by our Association and also have Oshibori (warm lavender washcloths).  Both of these have been very successful for us.
