At our hospital we transitioned the auxiliary to be its own committee with it's own guidelines instead of bylaws. This is under the hospital umbrella that includes all of the volunteers without dues. We still have an elected board, that meets to discuss volunteer and hospital updates along with voting on what to do with the monies raised in the Gift Shop and fundraising. Our auxiliary president sets on our Foundation board of directors, so the auxiliary is always involved with hospital events.
Since we still have a significant amount of money (thankfully) that is technically dictated by our auxiliary and volunteers, we have continued to have quarterly board meetings that are short but beneficial.
Hope this helps!
