Recruiting Volunteers

I live in a very rural area and have had a difficult time getting Volunteers since COVID. I had 60 very active and now I have 17. Our hospital currently has 100 beds. So, it is small.

I am also over the gift shop. I was thinking about sending an email to the staff that for three months, anyone that has a volunteer apply and complete three months they will get a $25 gift card to the shop. Which would cost me anywhere from $8.00 to $11.00 each.

What are your thoughts on that?

    I am getting desperate!

What are some of your best recruiting advice?

    Thank you in advance.

I have a recruitment program similar to your suggestion, but it is directed at current volunteers.  If they recruit a new volunteer and the new volunteer stays active for 6 months+.  The recruiter volunteer receives a $25 gift card to a local establishment.  The hospital does pay for the gift cards; but, perhaps you may have some local places that may be willing to donate.  Church bulletins are also very helpful.

I ask the current volunteers to help. I have given $20 in Waverly Bucks. It is a program in our community by the chamber. Money can be spent anywhere in town. I do not have a 6-month rule, if the person signs up and starts volunteering then they get the money. It really depends how desperate I get. If your town has a senior center or a over 55 age community that is also a great place.
