Looking for information from anyone who has barbers/hairdressers provide services to patients in the hospital (volunteer or otherwise).  Please include information about licensure verficiation if that applies in your state, and if you have this service in your behavioral healt units include any additional risk management procedures.

    Thank you in advance-

    Hi Eileen,

We have two wonderful hairdressers who have been with Shepherd Center since before I started 15 years ago. They come one afternoon each month to offer free haircuts to patients. We set them up in a therapy gym and anyone interested just shows up. As you can imagine, the line is long! We do require proof of valid licensure. During COVID, when the volunteers weren't coming in, two of our physical therapists filled in. We actually just got them officially trained by another licensed hairdresser so they're able to fill in if someone needs a trim between our regularly scheduled sessions. I've attached the placement description for your reference.
