Volunteer Services has an "account" with our foundation.  Our fundraising goes in there.  When i spend the money we ask that it be transferred from our foundation account into the Volunteer Services cost center.

We have a department within the hospital Finance oversight. The budget is planned and set forth by the Volunteer Leadership team and voted on by all volunteers. We have a Volunteer Treasurer who manages the funds, writes, checks, balances the bank statement, etc. 

The account is tied to the hospital (CFO, Manager of Volunteer Services, and Volunteer Treasurer) are all on the account. 

Fundraiser proceeds, donations, etc. are placed in the account and then we make donations back to the hospital departments as directed by the budget. The proceeds remain in our account from year to year.

Our volunteers receive a $12 meal voucher for each volunteer shift. So far, we have been able to keep this benefit. The volunteers love it! They can use the voucher at our cafeteria or our coffee shop.

Currently, we are limiting our fundraising efforts to just a few events each year, including Uniform Sales, the Bake Sale, and the Annual Card Party. Our newest initiative is a project that our volunteers would like to leave as a lasting legacy.

We recently launched the Cameron Health Volunteers Legacy Scholarship Program. In just the first couple of months, donations have already started coming in. As this fund continues to grow, I want to ensure that these donations remain dedicated to the scholarship program and are not absorbed into operating expenses.

For that reason, I believe transitioning the scholarship fund to the Foundation makes a great deal of sense. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback and guidance.
