CHAPLAIN SERVICES VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Department:
Chaplain Services
Major Objective:
Assist hospital chaplain in offering spiritual support to staff, patients and families.
Responsibilities:
•1. Meet with Chaplain upon arrival for instructions.
•2. Meet with Chaplain before lunch for daily summation.
•3. Visit patients and staff as directed by hospital chaplain.
•4. Contact patient’s pastoral care if requested.
•5. Make weekly rounds of designated areas to restock supply of literature
•6. Notify Chaplain when supplies reach low quantity to allow for reorder
•7. Chaplain services as determined by Chaplain.
Qualifications:
•1. Appreciation of importance of this service offering support and respect for all denominations
•2. Physical capability to travel across the hospital
•3. Seminary degree, or other equivalent ministerial training
•4. Active or retired minister
•5. Excellent customer service skills
•6. Adequate hearing
•7. Approval from chaplain volunteer review committee

•1. Hospital general orientation
•2. Volunteer Services orientation
•3. Department orientation on the job
