A 3rd year returning Teen Volunteer just informed me she is pregnant.  Has anyone else had this situation and any words of advice?  She is checking w/her ob to make sure she can have the TB skin test (yes, she can) and I have a form letter to be completed by her ob regarding verification to perfom duties & how long. We are a Catholic facility and I do want to provide support but am concerned of interaction & acceptance with fellow teen volunteers.

I keep waiting to see how others will respond to this question, but nothing yet!  I know that in today's society this is more common and something we all will probably have to deal with at some point.  I'm surprised that no one else has had this problem.  My thoughts are that it would not present a positive image for the program or be a good example for the other teens.  I am interested to see what others have to say though.

I had been reserving my comments because I have never had this situation and didn't really know what I do.  I have been thinking about it though and I think I would accept her into the program.  And if you have babies in your hospital I would put her in that department.  As I thought about this I initially wanted to say "Oh no...don't take her".  But after thinking about it I feel like we have the opportunity to teach her just a little bit about real life before she has to face it head on.
