Board requirements

Do any of you have a number of hours that a board member has to do as a volunteer other than board issues on a regular basis? The reason I ask, I would like to change my bylaws to reflect this. I currently have 2 board members that work very little and not on regular basis. One has not worked at all this year. I don't think they can justify being a Volunteer Board Member if they don't Volunteer! Please share with me on how you handle this type situation. We will change board members October 1, 2009 so I want to have this in place at that time.

    Thanks,

Well, I thought there was something in my Guild's constitution stating board members had to be active volunteers, but apparently there is not.  Several years ago almost none of the board members were active volunteers.  There was discussion about putting this in the constitution and shortly there after all of the board members became active volunteers and this has remained the case.

Our Bylaws require that Board members be "active" members.   An active member is defined as "25 or more hours served during the year."
