Our hospital has always had therapy dogs come in and visit patients; however we are looking into formalizing this program and running it through Volunteer Services.  If anyone has a Pet Therapy Program running at your hospital could you please share with me if it's managed through Volunteer Services and what is required of the pet owner as far as orientation, and other requirements.  I know the pet needs to be certified and vaccination records must be provided.  Do you require a throat culture?  Also, is your Infection Control Department involved?  Thanks for all your help.  Nancy
