I'm looking for information regarding payroll deduction in your Gift Shop.

What percentage sales increase did you experience after the implementation of payroll deduction?

What limit do you place on payroll deduction?

Any other information you can share would also be helpful.

    Thanks, Susan Grier

Our gift shops are owned and run by Lori's Gift Shops.  We do have payroll deduction and there is no limit at this time.  I am not aware of the numbers related to percentage increases.

Our Gift Shop has a $300 limit on payroll deduction.  This can be paid at one time or have $40 or $25 removed per pay to pay off your total.

I understand the Gift Shop has offered payroll deduction for at least 19 years- so can not comment on increase.  However 75% of our sales are payroll sales.

We did not see a jump in sales when payroll deduction was added.  What we did see was that many of the reliable customers switched to that mode of payment.

We only offer payroll deduct as a payment option to those employees who accrue vacation (it helps shield us from losses when pool employees do not return) and we limit to $150.00

We do not set a limit on how much an employee can put on a payroll deduct charge, however, we require a minimum $50 to split it once and $200 to split it over 2 pay-periods.

We've been offering payroll deduction forever so I can't answer the question about sales increases, however many of our employees take advantage of this benefit.  Our current system is rather antiquated so we're in the process of bringing it into the 21st century, but our guidelines will stay pretty much the same.  We have a $200 credit limit.  Each pay period we deduct half of the outstanding balance with a minimum $20 deduction (or the entire amount if the balance is less than $20).

We are switching to a system that will allow employees to scan their ID badge.  I anticipate increased sales with this move.  This was a very popular addition to our cafeterias about a year ago and many employees expect the same option in the gift shops. They are disappointed when they find out we're on a different system.

Jan, do you mind telling me what system you are switching to?  We would like to explore this as well.  Thanks, Susan Grier

Does anyone have a system of monitoring balances of payroll deductions?  I would so appreciate any of my fellow DVSs sharing your payroll deduction policy with me by emailing to sharon.green@sumner.org.  Thanks.  sg

We have payroll deduction and it did increase our sales, but it was several years ago and I don't know the percentage.  We use Quick Books and Quick Charge which tracks all payroll deductions and it uploads to payroll each pay period.  Our Limit is $500.00.  It can be divided up to 5 pays.  If $25 or under, the total amount comes out of one pay.

We do offer payroll deductions and it makes up about 75% of our sales.    We have Microsoft Retail Management Solutions software.    At the end of each month (like tonight at close of business), I run a report and the balance due that each employee charged in September will be taken out of 2 paychecks in October.  Our limit is $300.
