Water Feature at Hospital

This question may be a little different but I was wondering if any of your hospitals have outside water features? We have a Therapy Garden ran by our volunteers and someone has donated a water feature. Infection Control is not thrilled about us adding this. Thanks!

    Marley,

We (St. Elizabeth Healthcare) have a small outdoor water feature (I will take a photo next week and forward) at one of our hospitals (Florence).  It too, is in a garden.  I know that we were considering an indoor water wall and that was nixed by Infection Control.  I am unsure if the water feature at Florence was there prior to our merger or not.  I will double check that.

We have three different outdoor water features at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando.  I would be happy to send photos if you like.  One of the features is interactive so when you push a button the water jumps from place to place.

We have several water features, both inside and out.  Our plant facilities people clean them out about    every 3 months and the coins (because people love to throw them in) are brought to the Volunteer office.  We have a community group that comes in when we call them to clean and roll the coins. The Auxiliary is usally able to deposit between $300-$400 per fountain.  Infection control has never had anything to say about it, but the features are in locations that can be watched.

We have an enclosed free standing water feature in our Chapel.  Because of safety features and infection control issues, we were required to have it enclosed.  We do have a large fountain out on our front lawn of the hospital which is landscaped with benches for visitors/patients to visit. It is cleaned/maintained by our Plant operations staff.  Both of these projects were funded by our Auxiliary.
