We are usually up for anything, but seems like a great deal of "junck" to keep in check. You would not make any money on tickets- you sell at cost. Would more people pop by the gift shop if you sold them???? Are you considering this to increase foot traffic?
Our gift shop sells a wide variety of items including some food items i.e. dips, mix, salsa, etc. Our gift shop manager has done fun tastings to increase traffic and usally places whatever item featured on sale that day.
Had a purse sale (a bit different from our usual in lobby). We had 30 new purses donated (high end to adverage bags). We had a monthly purse raffle. Had the purses displayed in the gift shop (displayed 4-5 at a time related to space) (we also took pictures of the purses and placed on a digital frame at check out for people to look at). People could purchase one ticket for $10 or three for $20. The tickets remained all month, so if you purchased three tickets and one of your tickets pulled for the purse of the day you still had to tickets left that had the potential to get pulled for yet another purse. It was fun made a few thousand and increased foot traffic.
Next month we will begin offering the ability to donate a $1 (add on to your purchase) to benifit the auxiliary who in turn purchases equipment, etc. for hospital and pts. I'll let you all know how this goes.
I guess I really haven't answered your question; however, it appears as if you are attempting to increase foot traffic or profit. So here are some ideas.
Thanks
