I am posting this for Barbara Hoey:

We have auxilians and volunteers but at our hospital, there is no difference.  Our volunteers help to raise money and our auxilians volunteer in the hospital.  We still collect "auxiliary dues" but it's optional.  That said, what else could we generally call our auxilians/volunteers?  Any ideas?

    Barb,

I suggest you consider either ambassadors or league. If that is too traditional, consider something like "the go team"---they are always on the go, they are the ones people go to for help....etc.

Just curious...are your Volunteers/Auxilians, which share job duties as I understand it, set up as a not-for-profit corporation and were you involved at the time of organization for this group?

At my hospital, they are two separate entities.  Volunteers do service for the hospital; Auxiliary does fundraising events and activities.  Few auxilians volunteer and very few volunteers are auxiliary members.  It works for us fine.  We are also a non-profit.

When the Auxiliary dissolved years ago, we became a Guild.  All adult volunteers are automatically members of the Guild, and there is no membership fee.  The Guild board handles fundraisers and any volunteer (Guild member) can help out with a fundraiser
