Can you tell me how local newspaper delivery is handled in your hospital?  Is it just sold in your gift shop?  In a rack somewhere?  Is it delivered to patients on each unit?  Do you provide them in all the waiting rooms?  And who delivers and pays for them?  Independent contractor or other?  Any and all information you can provide is helpful.  Thank you in advance.

My volunteer guild purchases 275 newspapers daily.  We put a sticker on each paper that says "This paper is provided by the Saint Joseph Volunteer Guild".  A volunteer delivers these room to room and places one in each waiting area.  We also have a paper machine which is filled and maintained by the paper company.  We do not have papers in our gift shop.

My answer is similar to Jamine's:

Auxiliary purchases a set number and volunteers distribute to patient rooms each WEEKDAY morning.  Due to the discount we are offered by the newspaper, we cannot sell these papers or should not give them to staff, only patients.  So, the gift shop gets left-overs to give away if they aren't all given away during the room rounds.  Others are put in waiting areas as supply allows.  The info desk receives 12 papers on Saturday to give away, but we do not deliver to rooms or purchase any Sunday papers.  There is a drug store across the street that carries them.

We have a local medical supply company who contracts with our local newsapaper to provide 400 newspapers, Monday thru Friday.  This is a donation by the medical supply company and they put a cover on the front with their information.  Our volunteers deliver them every morning.

We have racks for USATODAY and the local paper in two different locations.  We do not sell papers in the gift shop.

For a while we were in a partnership with the local paper to provider a wrapper of Children's events, and important information over the local paper.  These were delivered to each room and available at the cafeteria and the information desk as well as at clinical locations.  Bet you can guess who was reading the papers rather than our guests.  After a brief survey, we discovered that it was not an important item for our patient families.  We discontinued this activity.
