I am interested in who still has a volunteer board and who has disbanded a volunteer board. I use to have an awesome board but times have changed and things have become relaxed with my current board.  I feel like I walk away with more to do, than actual helping me. I sit on the fence with which is better. So, I would love to hear some of your comments.

I do have a volunteer board, but I certainly see a future where there is not the interest and involvement to sustain a board. My plans when that happens is to recruit committee chairs with a one year commitment. I am hoping that people will be willing to commit to a one year term rather than the current commitment which can keep them on the board for anywhere from 2-6 years depending on their position. That is not sustainable in the future. 

We currently have an Auxiliary Board, but we are having a difficult time finding people to fill the leadership roles.  Our Executive Committee of the Auxiliary Board (5 people) are actually ready to take on the challenge to downsize the board.  Of course some that are currently serving on the board (and have been on the board for years) may be reluctant to the change, so I'm interested in any suggestions on how to proceed for those that have taken on this challenge.
