apt for interview/tour - background ck form completed at this time and placed in folder until AFTER orientation is completed and returned. while candidate is filling out background ck form on site; i prepare 2 letters of ref to go out snail mail.
orientation packet given for review and signatures which contains health assessment/PPD documents
candidate makes own appts for health assessment and PPD's with employee/occupational health. Employee health gives candidate back completed documents to turn into volunteer services and also scan's them to DVS (working on this piece as the health assessment process is new for us).
once orientation packet is returned background ck is submitted.
a second appt is made to do position placement; schedule first day volunteering; purchase uniform shirt and go to HR to obtain an ID badge.
I try to meet every new volunteer on their first day to get them signed in and take them to their assigned area to introduce them to staff, turn them over to someone for training, etc.
i have set up a check list so i don't forget any of the steps......when we handle so many applicants with multiple moving parts it is easy to overlook details. the check list is very helpful.
