ALERT!! Richard Smith, Engineer with Joint Commission, has a passion for hospital gift shops!  He inspected my gift shop AND the stock room. It wasn't just a walk through, he was looking hard for something wrong.  Fourtunately I didn't have anything within 18" of the ceiling and I had everything up off the floor.  Of course I was totally unproductive for two weeks because it's impossible to run a stockroom without receiving cardboard boxes or having anything touch the floor.  He never mentioned it but I was told in advance that he has a problem with original shipping cardboard and wants is disposed of immediately.  This is my third Joint Commission survey since I've worked in the gift shop and this is the first time they have inspected the gift shop or stock room.  So be warned...

Well, I have survived another Joint Commission inspection!  Unlike three years ago, this inspector was not obcessed with cardboard boxes, his passion is helium tanks. The only thing he asked was to see the helium tank.  He pulled hard on the chain that secures the tank to the wall then he pulled on the lock to be sure it was locked, then he left.
