My position has changed recently and I am now responsible for the Gift Shop. I have a couple of questions regarding inventory and hope that you all can help me.

1. What month do you do your inventory?

2. How do you count older item's that can't be sold at the orignal ammount it was marked?

3. Do you use the Wholesale number or the Retail number?

1. What month do you do your inventory? Mid-August.  The last month of the fiscal year is September.

2. How do you count older item's that can't be sold at the orignal ammount it was marked?  Every item in inventory is counted at original cost when purchased for inventory.  That amount is posted into the point of sale inventory software files.  Every order received for resale is posted to the inventory system.  We use tricoders to scan the barcode price stickers produced by the system.  The data is uploaded into the inventory software and a per-item valuation is produced as well as several other reports/view of the year-end inventory.

3. Do you use the Wholesale number or the Retail number? wholesale
